Wow… big news! I have been nominated in two categories in one of the most respected business awards in the world – The Stevie Awards. I was excited enough just to be nominated but a couple of weeks ago the finalists were announced and I am thrilled to say that I am a finalist in both categories!
I am now in New York, soaking up all that New York has to offer! I have seen a Broadway show, (Wicked was fabulous) eaten at Carmine’s, shopped at Sak’s and Bloomingdales, visited the Statue of Liberty; in short, played tourist while also doing some work, yes I am working!! Back to the topic at hand…The Stevie Awards for Women in Business are produced by the creators of the prestigious American Business Awards and International Business Awards. The Stevies are widely considered to be the world’s premier business awards.
More than 1500 nominations were made in various categories and I’ve been nominated in 2 categories, “Women Helping Women” and also “Best New Service” for School MATES.
I’m here in NYC with 7 other Aussie women who are all finalists in the Stevie Awards, each one inspiring in her own way! I’ve been passionately advocating for our kids on the spectrum and also their mothers and I feel honoured that my work is being recognized.
I share these awards with any person who has experienced or witnessed a sense of injustice and decided to do something about it. My work centres around empowering people to stand up and to reset the standards of inclusion in our society. While one person may not be able to change the whole world, one person can certainly change the world for one individual. It’s up to each of us to take personal responsibility and to create a ripple effect one person at a time.
The Stevie Awards are on this Friday night and I am beyond thrilled to be in attendance! Stay tuned for the outcome!
